Introducing Sunnydale
Sunnydale was established in 1985 by its founding members spearheaded by its late Chairman Abdul Mannan Khan. Based on the syllabus published by the UK Education Board this institution was aimed at providing quality education to the society.
Students admitted in this school are mostly from educated family backgrounds with prime aim to get higher education from prestigious institutions at home and abroad. Some of our students with outstanding results obtained from the Ordinary Level and Advanced Level Examinations apply to renowned colleges and universities of the world. Among them, some of the students get full scholarship to study in these universities.
Since its inception, we have striven to maintain a slow and measured but steady pace of growth in class levels. This policy has, so far, paid rich dividends in terms of institutional development. We are now confident that this conservative rate of progress has enabled us to assess, reflect upon and design our future course, thus avoiding the risks of unplanned hasty growth. It has also resulted in a comprehensive, systematic and structured evolution of such school facilities as administrative buildings, science, computer laboratories etc.
The adoption of a gradual but specifically defined expansion policy has helped Sunnydale to build a healthy relationship among its workforce, its student body and the society at large.
At present, Sunnydale is housed in different locations with classes ranging from Playgroup to Grade Twelve. Our future plans include the construction of school facilities on its own land at Bashundhara.
We, at Sunnydale, believe the measure of our institutional growth is demonstrated by the success of our students in Ordinary and Advanced Level Examinations every year.
Today, Sunnydale looks forward to a future of constant and uninterrupted growth and hopes to set an example of an institution that has endured the test of its existence through the years.
Sunnydale considers each of its students a special being with the potential of growing, maturing and standing on their own. We are here merely as guides to steer the students along the course of life towards their cherished destination. Our students have been lucky enough to have gained entry here; thus, they are obligated to help those who are less fortunate. We believe in the motto ‘Each one for everyone’. We hope to inculcate the basic goodness of a human being in our students so that they grow up to help the world even in the smallest measure. And even if they fail to do that, then they should not pose a threat to the society around them.
To achieve the aforesaid goals Sunnydale believes each of its students should:
develop Bangladeshi Nationalism and Patriotism, with a sense of dignity and pride.
develop love and respect for Bangladeshi Culture, Heritage and Bengali Language.
develop oneself as a responsible individual.
develop interpersonal skills and grasp a strong command over English language.
respect and cooperate with the teachers, fellow students and members of the staff.
develop self-confidence, self-reliance and self-esteem.
develop creativity and originality.
cope with individual and social challenges.
actively participate in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.
relate to the greater world as productive citizens of the world.
set examples of strong moral and civic behaviour by displaying honesty, integrity, humanity, tolerance, sincerity and dedication.
I penned a write-up in November 2015, published in the daily ‘Prothom Alo’ putting light on how Sunnydale was started in 1985 and the contribution of its mentors. You may go through the write up now with just a click, however, before it is read, I feel, the following words of gratitude that Sunnydale owes should be known to the wider community.
Sunnydale would not have stood as the imposing symbol of education as it stands today, strengthening the future of our nation, had it not been its mentors who took it upon themselves to deliver world class holistic education — literally shaping and changing lives. Equally, Sunnydale will always remain indebted to the parents – for their credulous reliance on Sunnydale regarding their children’s education right from day one of its existence and can we forget those eleven students who got enrolled in Sunnydale when this institution was just striving to create the brand name. Thank you so much for your belief in Sunnydale.
Furthermore, the administrative officials with their absolute sense of duty hold an inimitable position in Sunnydale’s history.
And, though, Sunnydale’s support staff who have been playing a vital role in supporting life at Sunnydale, may not get to know Sunnydale’s words of graciousness for them in these lines, the institution is compelled to appreciate them heartily and most sincerely for leaving no stone unturned to provide a neat, tidy and smooth school environment day in and day out.
In a nutshell, without the entire unconditional support and teamwork of all mentioned and many who remain unmentioned toiling behind the scenes, Sunnydale becoming a pathway to success would have remained just a chimera.
